Putting It Back Together Again...

We (and by "we", I mean Chris) have been making great progress in the guest bath. You can catch up where we left off here.

Remember where the ugly three pane inset mirror used to be?
Going...
Going...
Gone.
I asked Chris for crown molding, but he said he needed to build a soffit first to manage the slope in the wall (Truthfully, I think he just likes to make soffits).
We also had a plumber come to install our new tub. It is so much nicer than the almond colored one we had previously.
Next Chris installed new cement board to line the tub walls
and applied Red Guard as a water barrier.
As a result, this is what our shower currently looks like.
I painted the ceiling of the bathroom light turquoise. I think it will contrast nicely with all of the white that will be in the room.
Phew. I'm glad that's all over with. This is always the phase of the project I enjoy the least. All the dirt, construction materials, and tools lying everywhere really start to irk me after a couple of days.  Good thing that it won't be much longer until we get to the fun stuff. New paint on the walls, countertop, and tile are thankfully close behind.

Wow, y'all work fast. I painted my powder room ceiling the same as the walls in a blue green color and love it against the white.

Ok, Blogger, my comment got booted. What I was writing was, yes you are quick and my hubby needs to take some pointers or classes from Chris. Hang on to him. Love the ceiling.

Awesome progress. Loving the ceiling color! And I am so with you about the dirt and tools and just stuff lying around. After a few days it gets old and I want to start cleaning and organizing everything. That should be really fun for me when we do our kitchen ;-)

It's looking awesome! I think you should leave the pink the tub... definitely goes with the color scheme. :-) Can't wait to see the details come together!

Wow, I'm impressed! And I know what you mean - renovation in a home you're living in can get on your nerves!

Looking good - and even though I'd normally be shocked you got all this done in like a week, given how fast you guys work, I'm not even surprised anymore :).

Looking great. Love the blue ceiling!

Nice work. The tub looks great. I think the pink is a good color. You should think about keeping it.

Can you give some info on the tub? Did you replace a cast iron tub with another cast iron tub? This same work is in my future, and our tub has to go. I'm not sure what to replace it with.

Wow, you 2 are maniacs. You just finished a room and you're off to the next. I am so envious of your husband's super skills.

Okay...I'm embarassed. The tub and sink you just took out are exactly what I have in my bathroom including the faucets! LOL! I sorta redid my bathroom...I'm recaulking, took wallpaper down only to find out they didn't seal the walls before papering so the drywall came with it so I mudded and painted and I need to now refinish the cupboard, recaulk and seal the tile floor, hang a mirror and get a new light fixture, hardware and faucets. But then I don't have a Chris either...well, technically I do because my oldest son is a Chris but he doesn't do "handy".
You're doing a great job and I would tear mine out too if 1) I had some help, 2)I had some money and 3) I was braver and younger! LOL! You go guys!

You guys are really moving along. I'm impressed. Things at my place seem to move at a snail's pace. Actually slower than that. I'm excited to see the next phase.

Wowza! That is a lot of good ol' fashioned work gettin' done!!! You know I'm all about the pretties, too, but there is just something so cool about completely overhauling a space (c:

Movin' fast! Good choice on the waterproofing. I like the pink color you should keep it. ; ) On a serious note I was thinking of having a light blue ceiling in our new bathroom but I'm not sure that would look good with non-white walls.

Su-weet color inside the tub!! No seriously, I am so envious of your beautiful white tub!! We still have almond tubs & toilets and I didn't realize how much I detested that color for fixtures until I owned them. Love your light blue ceiling too and can't wait to see this bathroom come together!

I love the idea of painting the ceiling in something other than white and that blue is so very pretty.

Hi Tina,
The tub we took out was fiberglass, and we replaced it with a fiberglass tub from American Standard. I don't know anything about removing a cast iron tub, but it doesn't sound like fun :(

I can't wait until I don't have to move toolboxes and power tools off my dinner table everyday just to be able to eat at my table.

You make it look so easy, but I know it's a lot of work. It looks great so far.
