Living in a historic home has its benefits. Look what Chris uncovered while ripping apart the powder room
This was a little surprising because all of the doors in our house already have what look to be the original knobs, but what do I know? In any case, it was a fun discovery and we're wondering what else we might find during the course of our renovations.
Have you found anything in your home that was left by previous owners?

One of the many charming things about an old house. I love glass knobs. Are you going to replace the knobs and use the original? When we moved into ours we found the original architectural drawings for our house. My parent's found $150,000 in cash stashed in a closet in one of the houses they renovated (they didn't get to keep it) but still crazy!
Wow- what a great find! Those knobs are beautiful! How fun it must be to uncover treasures with a home rich in history!
They remind me of anthropologie. ;)
Will you use them?
Elizabeth, $150k??? Sounds like a great story!
Karen, I'm sure we'll be able to find a use for them somewhere, but all the doors on the first floor already have glass knobs and the doors upstairs have what looks like cat's eye or tortoise. They are hard to describe but are unique and beautiful so they'll be staying :)
I love all of these door handles! Seriously great find:)
I HAD (emphasis) on "had" a great coat hanger rack made out of doorknobs that I bought from Pottery Barn @ ten years ago. My husband sold it w/ our last house. The buyers requested it. I was pretty upset that he let them have it, it was a great piece. You could make turn them into wine/cork stoppers or just display them in a basket. I want to replace some of our bedroom knobs w/ glass - to add character.
Kim, Ooooooh, great ideas. Until I get around to doing something creative with them, I think I'll display them in a basket. That's a lot prettier than the plastic freezer bag we're currently storing them in!
Those are so beautiful. I recently saw a photograph of a bowl filled with old glass door knobs used as a decorative accessory in a living room. I could see the knobs in a wood bowl in the family room space that you put together in the mood board you did.
These are great. I'm with Kim, my first thought was a coat rack or hanger of some sort!
Wow! What a great find. I'm sure you'll find a way to display them.
I love old door knobs, do you think they were extras?
Can't wait to see what you find next!!
